JarvisRanchPariaPlateau?

Question:

Anyone know the area that I could correspond with? Interested on finding a campsite on the TOP edge of the Vermillion cliffs and that looks like the nearest one. Thanks, Don

Response:

Don — I’ve been up and down the routes above Jacob/Rachel’s Pools, and the one above Bonelli Spring.  They lead to the top of the Vermilion Cliffs and the Sand Hills/Paria Plateau south of Jarvis Ranch.  The so-called Sand Hill Crack above Jacob/Rachel’s Pools is about 3 miles directly south of Jarvis Ranch.  The Bonelli Spring route comes up about 4 miles southwest of the Ranch.  Michael Kelsey discusses the entire region, with maps and pictures, in his _Hiking and Exploring the Paria River_, updated edition, 1991, pages 156-167.  I haven’t ventured north onto the Sand Hills/Paria Plateau proper.
