Question:
I have not seen any advertisements yet for the fall sea kayak symposium in the Seattle area. Is there going to be one this september?

What the registrar says, goes. It has filled up quickly in the past, esp. in terms of lodging. This symposium, for those that are not familiar, is located near the fishing village, artists haven and tourist destination of Port Townsend. The symposium is held at Fort Worden State Park, which used to be a military base and is a beautiful little "campus" right on the water with historical officers houses, etc. The weekend before the symposium sports the Wooden Boat Festival, for some of you who may want to take a couple of weeks to explore the area. The park is on the Olympic Penninsula. Easily accessible are hikes in the Olympic National Forest, beach walks or kayak-surfs at the coast, and one can even head up to Port Angeles and take the ferry to Victoria.
