Hitchhiking would be the cheapest but don’t be surprised if no one will pick up two people with their backpacks. Another option is Greyhound bus which I believe has a special companion fare in which the second person pays half fare. Check www.greyhound.ca If you will be attempting to hike in Jasper [as with any national park] you would have to register with the park before hiking and you must pay for each night’s camping. The West Coast Trail in summer is very popular. It is highly recommended that you have a reservation before traveling there. They allow only so many people to start each day. If you do not have a reservation then you may have to wait a few days before a spot becomes available. It is not cheap to do the trail. With park fees, transportation, ferry fees, it will cost about $250 Cdn per person, not counting your food. hello forum! firstly I’ve to say that your forum is quiet recommendable. I have been doing backcountry-trips for 3years now and it was the best thing I’ve ever started doing! In the next year(2001) we’re planning to take an outdoor-journey to the endless woods in canada. We want to make kind of a trekking tour through the jasper national park and after these 2 or 3weeks we want to travel to the West Coast Trail.
